Think Global, Shop Local
As a hot new entrant into an already crowded field, Shopikon was a lifestyle app/brand trying to find itself—fast. They contacted me to insert a knowing, wise-cracky voice in its New York section's blog posts. In addition to the lighter top 10 lists, I wrote two investigative pieces, which included original research that bolstered the credibility of their repositioned “shop local” branding. By being on the cutting edge of local issues, Shopikon put itself out there as the champion of small retail over mono-culture commerce. My pitched ideas increased the blog's appeal to savvy locals who mistakenly believed the app to be just for tourists.
